多彩な個性をちりばめた実用度の高いケース＆文字盤
ロベール・グルーベルとステファン・フォルセイの両者が共同で立ち上げたグルーベル・フォルセイは、2004年の創業以来、特殊なオリジナル機構に特化した時計作りを行ってきた。その初期には、異なる軸をもつ2重のキャリッジが立体的に回転するダブルトゥールビヨンを開発し、ハリー・ウィンストンのコラボシリーズ「オーパス」にも採用されて注目を集めた。そうした革新的精神は、最新作「バランシィエS」にも貫かれている。
新作は同ブランドが昨年発表した「コンテンポラリー テンプ」の進化形であり、またデザインの一部を「GMT スポーツ」から継承した。まず目につくのは、そのケースデザインである。上から見ると円形のこのケースは、別アングルからは独特のアーチを描く卵形に見え、ラバーストラップと一体型となる。素材にはチタンが採用され、ストラップを合わせた総重量わずか110gの軽量化を実現。堅牢で気密性の高い構造により内部機構を守る100m防水性能のオーバル型ケースだ。
一方、同じく個性ある文字盤上でひときわ存在感を放つのが、7時位置の30度傾斜させた大型テンプ。直径12.6㎜もの大型サイズに設計されたこのテンプは、慣性モーメントの微調整を可能にする6つの金無垢製チラネジを備え、重力の影響による誤差を抑えるために30度の角度をつけて設置した。こうした独自構造によって抜群に優れた精度を発揮する。
もうひとつの個性が時分針とギアトレインを同時に支えるブリッジだ。傾斜したギアトレインと中央の時分針を、大胆な2重吊り下げ式のチタン製ブリッジでしっかりと固定。技術と外観の両面で文字盤上のアクセントとなる。さらに、ブリッジの対面には72時間パワーリザーブを確保するダブルバレル、上側にはパワーリザーブ表示、大型テンプの左横にはスモールセコンドが配置され、この独創的なスポーティモデルにおけるデザインと機能の調和を完成させている。
