Point 1
ダブルスイングピニオン式のクラッチ
時・分積算計を秒積算計から独立させた設計は他社にもあるが、それに専用のスイングピニオン式のクラッチを与えたのはリシャール・ミルだけ。同じ水平クラッチのキャリングアーム式より省スペースにでき、クロノグラフのパフォーマンスを最大限に高められる。
Point 2
駆動力を直接香箱から伝達する仕組み
引き出し線が示すのは、分積算車。その右下に向けてスイングピニオン、中間車を経て、香箱へとつながる設計とし、クロノグラフをより効率よく作動させる。分積算計を直接香箱で駆動する設計はほかにも存在するが、クラッチが備わるのは初。
Point 3
カーブした歯型をもつインボリュート歯車
18世紀の数学者レオンハルト・オイラーが考案したインボリュート曲線を、歯車の歯型形状に応用。かみ合う歯は、曲線に沿って滑らかに駆動力を伝達する。最新の研究で、その際の圧力角は20度が理想だと判明。それもいち早く採用した。
