The chambray fabric shows an unusual depth, color and texture, given that it was hand woven. What I like best is the subtle, understated hand stitching. It doesn’t jump out at first sight like the visible pick stitching on some handmade shirts. This is quiet, understated hand stitching for the pleasure of the wearer alone.

I chose to have my first shirt made up in a formal style, including a semi-spread collar and French cuffs, but using chambray which is usually used for workwear and casual sportswear. The juxtaposition of the rougher fabric in a formal style creates just the right amount of contrast to give the shirt interest. The result is sublime. This shirt will be an absolute pleasure to wear.
