Returning to Tokyo with a new love of bespoke tailoring and a sense of sprezzatura, with access to the best showrooms in Japan, I felt that I had found my perfect style, but there would be one more influence on my personal style with the opening of Bryceland’s in Jingumae.

Ethan Newton, an Australian and owner of Bryceland’s, seemed to take most of the styles I loved, past and present, and combine them in a unique way. The Bryceland’s look combines Italian tailoring with vintage American military and workwear, accented with pieces of Native American jewellery. It’s a perfect look for me. Suddenly I had validation. I could wear my old Levi’s, Aldens, work shirts, and army jackets and combine them with Italian bespoke tailoring. I could even get my old turquoise out again. Was this the Australian version of Tokyo mix?

ブライスランズのオーストラリア人のオーナー、イーサン・ニュートンは、私が過去に好きだったスタイルや今も好きなスタイルをほぼ全て取り入れていて、それらを独自の形でミックスしています。ブライスランズのルックは、イタリアのテーラリングとヴィンテージのアメリカンミリタリーやワークウェアを合わせ、さらにネイティブアメリカンのジュエリーでアクセントをつけています。私にとっては完璧なルックです。突如、私は確信しました。昔履いていたリーバイスに、オールデンの靴、ワークシャツ、そしてアーミージャケットを、イタリア製のビスポークテイラリングと組み合わせることができるんだ！と。昔していたターコイズを出してきてまた付けることができるんだ！と。これは、東京ミックスのオーストラリアバージョンだったのでしょうか？

After decades of traveling the world and being exposed to many influences, this is where I’m at today. Will my personal style evolve again? Maybe, but if it does, I’ll be sure to keep it simple sir.
